Frequently Asked Questions

DSA (Disabled Students’ Allowance) is government funding that helps university students with learning differences, disabilities, or mental health needs. It can pay for things like assistive technology, specialist tuition, and 1:1 mentoring — and it doesn’t need to be repaid.

Yes — you’ll need a diagnostic report that confirms your learning difference, such as dyslexia, ADHD, or autism.
If you don’t already have one, Learning with Dyslexia Ltd offers both online and in-person assessments that meet DSA requirements.

Absolutely. You can apply for DSA at any point during your course. Many students don’t realise they’re eligible until later, and it’s never too late to access support.

It can take around 4–6 weeks from application to your Needs Assessment appointment. This checklist is designed to help you stay on track and make sure nothing gets missed along the way.
